Checked or not, the pop-up reappears each time Quicken is opened. and those of other members from which I have learned much as well.Ĭlick to expand.Regrettably, the operative word there is "seems." (I am reminded of the still funny line from an early episode of the TV program "Everybody loves Raymond" where Debra, his wife-to-be, says, on meeting Ray's parents, "They seem nice," and he replies, "Yes, they seem nice.") I have not seen a Windows version of Quicken in a long time, but at the Quicken forum, Windows users complaining about this issue say that the option provided in the pop-up to check "Skip" and/or "Do not remind again" is ignored. Thank you again for responding to this question.

I look forward to Mac-Forums, as soon as the registration window is open for business.

I am more than sorry to see Mac Forums shut down. Unrelated subject: I have used this forum often since switching from Windows to a MacBook Pro in 2011 (which developed cardiac issues, and prompted my switch to an iMac Retina with Sierra - about which I can say only, respectfully, MBP RIP, but I LOVE this desktop!).

But speaking as a decades-old Quicken user, first on DOS, then Windows, and now Mac, being "reminded" to update to the new version EVERY TIME I open Quicken by two, count 'em two, back-to-back pop-ups, is rude, annoying, and unprofessional, and almost certainly the quickest way to drive me to switch to Checkbook Pro. Corporate execs have to make tough marketing decisions, I understand that. At a Quicken forum, a Quicken moderator explained that the pop-ups would be turned off soon (confirming that the company controls them), but he was not able (or willing?) to say when. As MacInWin suggests, these pop-ups seem to be coming from within Quicken itself. I have Firefox 57 with Ghostery and AdBlock (added today in response to harryb2448). There’s also a download button titled “Quicken Mac Lion 2007 DOWNLOAD for Windows”…well, you can see why Mac users might be slighted.Thank you all for your thoughts. Today’s release may not have helped that perception as the product page touts “Backs up easily to MobileMe” - a service that will be shut down in a matter of months. Quicken has been soundly criticized for treating Mac customers as second-class citizens and being out of touch with the Mac environment. Quicken Essentials was a complete rewrite of the program which is fully compatible with Intel-based Macs. Mac customers who are new to Quicken software are directed to purchase Quicken Essentials for Mac instead of the older Quicken for Mac 2007. Existing Quicken for Mac 2007 data files will automatically convert to the new Lion-compatible format. Today’s patch now allows for the software to run under Lion, without Rosetta support.

Lion dropped support for Rosetta, so Quicken for Mac customers couldn’t upgrade if they wanted to continue to use the software. Quicken for Mac 2007 was originally written for PowerPC machines and had been running on Intel-based Macs using Rosetta technology.

Without this update it won’t work on the latest Mac OS version, which was released in July of last year. The update is intended for existing Quicken for Mac customers who want to use the product on Lion machines. As promised, Intuit today released a $15 update for Quicken Mac 2007 that makes it compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion.
